Be Here Now – Focus on the Present
June 3rd, 2008 at 8:31There’s something relaxing about going into a bookstore. I love that bookstores are places where you can have some hot tea while you sit and read for awhile.
Last week I was in a bookstore, and after I checked out, the bookseller behind the counter asked me if I would like to have a “card.” She fanned out about thirty 4 x 4 laminated cards for me to pick one. I’m not sure if I picked the card or the card picked me.
One side of the card read, “The Past is Over.” The other side said, “This is a new day, one that I have never lived before. I stay in the Now and enjoy each and every moment.”
I taped that card on my “Words Wall” beside my desk so that I can look at it everyday. Its helps me release the past and refrain from worrying about tomorrow. I actually have a number of cards taped to my wall in various sizes and colors – all reminders about how I should live everyday. When I catch myself allowing a thought that is not empowering, I look at my wall and find some words that help get me back on track.
It’s hard to stay on track all the time – we all need reminders. Even when I’m not consciously looking at them, I know they are there and what they say – the positive energy is always working for me.
I encourage you to try it. Sign up for my free Special Report in the box at the right. Over the next few months, I’ll be sending out 21 Tips on How to Make Healthy Connections in your life. I’ll send one out every 3 or 4 days so you’ll have time to reflect on how you can apply it to your life.
Then you can set up your own “Words Wall.”
